Donald Krueg

March 14, 1933 - May 23, 2024

Don passed away May 23, 2024. Although his spirit was always willing, his challenges continued to grow. His easy-going personality was a blessing to all who knew him.

In 1933 Don was born in Linton, ND to parents John and Lydia Krueg. He moved to Lodi, CA with his family in 1936. Don was a graduate of Lodi High in 1952. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952, and served until 1956. He went on to enjoy a productive career at Pacific Telephone for 35 years. In 1956 Don married Betty Renke. They had 2 children, daughter Kathleen Harreld, and son Steven, who died in 1984.

Don could design anything, build anything, and fix anything. He was known to make the fastest, most unique pinewood derby cars ever! Most of all, though, he was the best husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather anyone could ask for, sharing his insights and talents whenever and wherever needed most.

Those whose lives he touched will miss him immensely. The family is especially grateful for the team of caregivers with Seva Hospice. They provided Don with loving assistance over the last several months.

Don is survived by his wife Betty of 67 years who lovingly cared for Don this past year, daughter Kathy Harreld (Ken), grandsons Mike Harreld (Stephanie) and Steve Harreld (Nicole) and great-granddaughters Ella and Izzy. He is preceded in death by his beloved son Steve, his parents, and 7 siblings.

Friends and family are invited to share in a celebration of Don’s life on June 6 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Lodi, 267 N. Mills Ave.
