Barbara Mayes

November 17, 1941 - October 17, 2017

 

Barbara Ann Mayes, 75, of Stockton, passed away October 17, 2017. Born in Nashua, Minnesota on November 17, 1941, Barbara was a Principal’s Secretary for the Lodi Unified School District for 27 years. She is preceded in passing by her husband of 42 years, Howard. Barbara will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

Barbara leaves behind her 3 sons, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Comfort Care Hospice.

VISITATION

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 4-8pm in the Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, 14165 N. Beckman Rd, Lodi, California.

SERVICES

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 1pm in the Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi.

FINAL RESTING PLACE

Barbara will be laid to rest at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, California immediately following her Funeral Services.

 

Ruth Ann Mize

October 10, 1944 - October 17, 2017 Ruth was born in Long Branch, New Jersey to Leslie and Norma Macinnes. She attended grade schools in Boston, MA and Coalinga, CA. She graduated from Tracy Joint Union High School in 1962, New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing earning her R.N. and the University California, Stanislaus and earned a BSN.

She worked and a number of different places; Tracy Hospital, Dameron Hospital, Dr. Cunningham’s office and at General Mills, Inc.

She is survived by her husband; James Earl Mize; son Richard James Mize (Lisa) and their children Hannah Faith, Cody James Richard, Annalisa Nicole, Ricky, Nick, and Ryan; daughter Lynette Nicole Mize (Mike Doonan); preceded in death by her parents.

VISITATION

Visitation For Ruth Ann Mize will be held Monday, October 23 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, 14165 N. Beckman Rd, Lodi CA.

SERVICES

A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, October 24 at 1:00 pm in the Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, 14165 N. Beckman Rd, Lodi CA.

INTERMENT

Interment will be private.

Dorothy Schroeder

June 8, 1922 - October 14, 2017 Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is honored to serve the Schroeder Family.

Walter Orr

Walter Sam Orr born December 28, 1928 peacefully passed away on October 14, 2017 at the age of 88 with his family by his side.  Walt is the son of the late William and Marie Orr.  He is survived by a brother, John Orr of Stockton; his children: Diane (Bruce) Robinson, Debbie (Terry) Shoeffler of Stockton, Walter Orr of Bellflower, Karen (Dennis) Larsen of Tulsa, OK, and Jason (Danielle) Orr of Acampo.  He has 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, preceded in death by 1 grandson. Many nieces and nephews.

At the age of 14 he started working.  He was in the Navy and Air Force July 1947 thru September 1953. His passion took him in the direction of auto repairs.  A few places he worked was Panella Trucking and Gene Gabbard’s before opening his own gas stations around town, then opened Walt’s Auto Repair.  Walt love to drag race at Kingdon Drags, Fremont, Bakersfield and Pomona to name a few. He was known as the “FOSSIL”.  After drag racing he built 3 old cars 1932/1933 Ford Coupe, Sedan and Roadster.  He joined the car club “Franklin Syndicate Auto Club.”

We would love to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s for the great care given in his final days.

Marie Knittel

Melvin Baumbach

August 24, 1923 - October 11, 2017 The son of Lewis and Elizabeth Baumbach, born in Acampo, CA, attended Houston School and graduated from Lodi High School. He was married to Miriam Miller in November of 1946 until her passing in 2012. Mel accepted Christ on March 23, 1958 and was a member of Temple Baptist ever since. Mel had three sons, Garrett (Joann) - Santa Rosa, CA, Robert (Sheila) - Stockton, CA, Lewis - Lodi, CA; seven grandchildren Dustin (Michele), Brooke (Michael), and Matthew (Sarah), Brieanne, Katie, Jacob, and Beau; and six great grandchildren who affectionately called him G-Pa. Mel also has three brothers; Oliver, Paul, and Reuben (deceased). He served as a trustee, deacon, and youth worker for the church, was a member of Gideon International, and was on the Board of Trustees at Live Oak School. He was on multiple agricultural boards such as A.S.C.S., Stabilization Conservation Board (22 years), and the Lafayette Farm Bureau. Mel farmed all his life and was well respected by the farming community. He loved the soil, loved the Lord, loved his family, and loved to golf as much as possible. He served in the Merchant Marines for 2 1/2 years during World War II.

SERVICES

Celebration of Life Service will be November 4th at 1:00 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church, 801 S. Lower Sacramento Rd., Lodi.

INTERMENT

There will be a private burial.
