Gina Abbas

February 24, 1957 - November 20, 2017

Gina Rae Abbas (nee Williams) passed away peacefully November 20, 2017, after a long illness.  Gina was the daughter of Dr. George Williams (deceased) and Betty Williams.  She was the youngest of George and Betty’s five children, and enjoyed being part of the larger extended family and four generations who spent holidays and annual vacations together.  She is survived by her siblings Mary Jo Williams, Lou Ann Winchell (Blake), Jeri Blote (Matt) and Mike Williams (Stacy) and their 13 children and grandchildren.

Gina was born and raised in Lodi and attended St. Anne’s school and St. Mary’s High School.  She graduated from the University of San Francisco as a Registered Nurse in 1979.  She returned to Lodi to work at Memorial Hospital, specializing in the care of the critically ill, working night shifts to tend to their needs.  For many years, she was the nurse in charge and mentored other nurses to improve their skills.  She was known as a nurse with a big heart, always doing her best to provide expert nursing care and emotional comfort to the patient and family.

Outside of work, Gina loved to spend time with her friends and family.  She was an avid reader, music lover and sports maven.  She always knew the answers to the sports questions when the family played their Trivial Pursuit games on annual vacations, and followed the 49ers, Giants and Warriors faithfully.  She loved dogs, and always had two or three dogs sharing her home. She enjoyed travel, especially the annual family girls’ trips to Mexico or a spa.

Gina will be missed greatly by her family and friends, and will be remembered as the ‘fun’ aunt, the soft-spoken sister with the wicked sense of humor, and the loving, lovable friend, daughter and sister.
