Randy Shelton

September 3, 1959 - September 2, 2018


Randy S. Shelton of Stockton, passed away on September 2, 2018. He was born, in Stockton, September 3, 1959. Randy was a foster parent for over 40 years, substitute teacher for the past ten years with Lincoln Unified, and Stockton Unified School Districts. Board member of Dwight Johnson Scholarship Foundation.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Shelton and Mossie Lee Shelton and sister Christlee Daniels. Survived by his sister Joyce Thomas, brother Larry Shelton both of Stockton, Juris K. Shelton, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Nathaniel Shelton, Richmond, CA. 7 nieces and nephews, 6 great-grand nieces and nephews and loved by many friends.

Funeral will be held on Wednesday, Sept 12, 2018 at 11am, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint, 1616 Pyrenees Drive Stockton. Burial will be held at Cherokee Memorial Park, Harney Lane, Lodi.

Ramona Cortez

December 28, 1937 - August 31, 2018

Ramona Ann Cortez entered into eternal life and into the loving arms of her faithful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of The Almighty God on Friday August 31, 2018. Ramona leaves behind for just a little while her life long friend, devoted and forever loving Husband of (65) short years Agapito Cortez "Pete." Ramona also leaves behind (3) children who will forever adore her. Samuel D. Cortez Sr. (Rita), Debra L. Roman (Tim) and Colleen A. Regohos. Nine grandchildren, (16) great-grand children and (1) great-great-grand child.

All who knew and loved Ramona are welcome to attend her Celebration of Life. Viewing will be on Sept., 27th-28th, 10am 8pm. Service will be held Sept., 29th at 1pm at Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery (Vineyard Chapel) Lodi CA.

VISITATION

Gary McGee

August 13, 1937 - August 29, 2018

After a long illness Gary was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 29, 2018. He was born in Durango CO and moved to CA years later working as a draftsman for various companies. 

Retired from Robertson Ceco Metal Bldgs. in 2000.  A kind and gentle soul will be missed by all who knew him.  He enjoyed doing puzzles, fantasy football, and reading WWll books. 

He leaves behind his loving wife, Jean, of 32 years, and three sons, Michael McGee, Derek and Darren Gong. Also his brother Vince McGee, two nieces Linda and Susan, and two grandchildren Jon and Stephanie. Family graveside services will be private. 

In lieu of flowers you may make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hosp. in Gary's name. 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.

VISITATION

There will be a visitation on Thursday, September 6th, 2018, from 10:00am to 8:00pm, at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, located at 831 Industrial Way, Lodi AC, 95240.

A private burial will be held through Cherokee Memorial.

Robert Day

April 11, 1949 - August 29, 2018

Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Day family.

Bob Day passed away peacefully at St.Joseph’s Hospital on August 29,2018 at the age of 69. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth “Bjo” Day, his two sons,Tyler and Connor Day, daughter in law, Ryann (Rojas) Day and his grandchildren, Rylie and Keegan Day. In addition Bob is survived by his two brothers, Donald Day of Wisconsin and Thomas Day of Texas as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

Bob did not wish to have a service but rather a memorial celebration of life at a later date. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Echo Hill Outdoor School in honor of Katie Farley (Bob’s niece). The camp gives its facilities to children who suffer with heart and lung diseases, over seen by volunteer doctors and nurses.

Shirley Knott

February 28, 1940 - August 29, 2018

Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Knott family.

Shirley Andrews was born February 28, 194o to Jasper Andrews and Louvenia Andrews (Williams) in Robersonville, North Carolina. She was the youngest sister of six children.

Shirley attended East End High School in Robersonville, North Carolina, where she enjoyed sports such as Track and Field, and enjoyed the academic atmosphere of learning. After high school, Shirley attended Durham Business College, studying Business and receiving certifications for her secretarial skills.

Shirley accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Roberson Missionary Baptist Church. She faithfully served in varying groups and auxiliaries.

Shirley married Woodrow Knott, Jr. on March 26, 1967 and enjoyed 50 years of marriage together, before he passed away, just 7 months ago. Their marriage union was blessed with two children. Initially they lived in Fresno, California before moving to Stockton, California for the past 45 years and where they raised their two kids.

While living in Fresno, Shirley worked for the Internal Revenue Service. In 1973, when the family decided to move to Stockton, Shirley continued to work for the IRS. And she also worked for the Department of the Navy as an executive secretary, before retiring early to care of her son who was involved in a serious automobile accident.

Shirley desired to be obedient to the Lord and raised her children to admonish the Lord. She served in Sunday School as a teacher at Emmanuel Baptist Church of Stockton, California. And later when her late husband “Chuck” was called to ministry as an assistant pastor, she faithfully followed him to join and serve True Gospel Missionary Baptist Church in Oakland, California.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father and mother, two sisters and one brother (Carrie, Hazel, and Russell).  She leaves to cherish her memory her children, daughter Melanie D. Knott and son Kevin D. Knott both of Stockton; also her siblings Vernell Burns of Robersonville, North Carolina, and Mary Martin of Baltimore, Maryland.  Shirley also has many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Shirley passed from this life on August 29, 2018.  She was a faithful wife, being called the “Rock of Gibraltar” by her late husband, amazing mother, loving sister, and wonderful friend, dearly loved in so many ways.  She leaves a legacy of service, dedication and love.

She will truly be missed.

Glenn Taylor

June 23, 1920 - August 28, 2018

Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Taylor family.

Glenn Lavern Taylor, 98, died at his home in Roseville, CA on August 28th, 2018. He was born in Dundee, Iowa on June 23, 1920, and lived most of his early life on farm with his parents, Walter and Edith Taylor and his sister Lenore (Taylor) Mohrmann.

He was a WWII veteran serving in the US Navy as a Quartermaster 3rd Class. He was so proud of his military service. After the war he attended Iowa State University and received his Bachelor's Degree in Animal Husbandry. He left farming in Iowa and moved with his first wife (Vera Cook) and three children, to California where he worked for the California Farm Bureau in Visalia and then as a feedlot manager for Will Gill and Sons in Madera. In 1979 he married Vi Taylor and moved to Lodi, CA. That was his home until 2016 when he entered hospice care in Roseville.

Glenn loved life and was blessed with a long one. He enjoyed every minute he could spend with family and friends. He is survived by his sister, Lenore Mohrmann, his three children, Jeannette Stephens, Carol Vickerman (Dave), Walter Taylor (Kim), and grandchildren David Vickerman (Kristy), Amy Pastorino (Nick), Karen Moreland (Justin), Lisa Kowalik (John), Austin Taylor (Juanita), and six precious great grandchildren.

A service celebrating his life will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Lodi, CA on September 4th at 12:00 PM. A private burial service at Cherokee Memorial Park will precede the service.

Memorial contributions can be made to the United States Navy Memorial or the First United Methodist Church in Lodi.

Gladys Mangili

December 9, 1919 - August 27, 2018

Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Mangili family.

On Monday, August 27, 2018, Gladys (Sug) Mangili, passed away at the age of 98.  Gladys was born in DeQueen, Arkansas and moved to California where she met her husband of 76 years; Erminio (Joe) Mangili. They had 3 children; sadly Peggy Jo preceded Gladys in passing.  Gladys is survived by her husband, Erminio; her children; Larry and Jo Ann; and her granddaughter Elora. Gladys was a loving wife and the best mother on the face of the planet according to her children. 

Visitation:

Viewing will be held in the Zinfandel room in the Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park located at 14165 N. Beckman Road, Lodi, CA  95240 from 12pm to 8pm on Wednesday, August 29, 2018. 

Services:

A Celebration of her Life will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park located at 14165 N. Beckman Road, Lodi, CA  95240.

December 30th, 1942 - August 27th, 2018

Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Graham family.

Rita Anne Graham, 75, of Lockeford, California, born to Bud and Berniece Fink of Maryland, on December 30th, 1942, went to be with the Lord on August 27th, 2018. Rita married the love of her life, John Graham, on May 6th, 1961. In 1977 the Graham family moved from Maryland to California. Rita worked as a Systems Analyst at Delicato Winery for over 30 years. Her passions in life included raising her goats, love of all animals, and cruising to many destinations.

Rita is survived by her daughter Sheri Walker (husband, Wayne), son Mike Graham (wife, Crystal), son Jeff Graham (wife, Krissy), along with grandchildren Rebecca Weiss (husband, David), Johnny Graham (wife, Selena), Joe Graham, Jake Strong, Riley Strong, and great-grandson John Aiden Graham. Rita is also survived by her sister Janet Crusenberry, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband John Graham, her parents Bud and Berniece Fink, and her brother Alan J. Fink.

Rita had a celebration of life on August 12th, 2018, at her request. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of San Joaquin or the FFA Chapter of your choice.

Her final wish was to be laid to rest in the waters of Alaska.

Bill Mintun

May 8, 1940 - August 26, 2018

Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Mintun family.

Bill H. Mintun of Woodbridge

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather Bill H. Mintun, 78 of Woodbridge, passed away on August, 26 in Lodi.

Bill was born in French Camp to Helen and Leslie Mintun on May 8th, 1940.  He graduated high school at Lower Division Stockton College in Stockton. He married the love of his life Deanna Winter on June 25th, 1960 at Eastside Presbyterian in Stockton. He worked for Pacific Gas & Electric Co. for 43 years and served in the Coast Guard Reserve for 33 years. He was a member of the Lodi Elks Lodge 1900.

Bill is survived by his wife Deanna sons David, James, Brian and Michael, and grandchildren Andrew, Daniel, Kirsten, and Roan.

Services:

Graveside services will be held at 11 am, Friday, August 31, 2018 at Cherokee Memorial Park with Bradley Winter officiating.
