Salvador Bustamante

August 11, 1923 - December 4, 2018

Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Bustamante family.

He was born August 11, 1923 to Pedro and Concepcion Bustamante in Mexico City, MX. His love for travel took him throughout the United States before settling in Stockton, CA to marry his wife Betty Bustamante and raise their family. He worked at the Port of Stockton for 43 years and retired at the age of 72.

Salvador Is survived by his sister Teresa Bustamante, son Anthony Bustamante, daughter, Julie Corbett, granddaughters, Andrea Raya, Hilary Hicks, grandsons Brandon Raya and Phillip Bustamante, and great-grandchildren Brayden Dugmore, Ruby Hicks and Chevy Hicks.
He was preceded in death by his parents Pedro and Concepcion Bustamante his wife Betty Bustamante and siblings Pedro Bustamante, Manuel Bustamante , Andres Bustamante, Eusebio Bustamante, Euvaldo Bustamante, Mary Pedron, Adolfina Bustamante and Rosa Trofimoff.

SERVICES:

A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, located off  Highway 99 at Harney Lane, Lodi CA, 95240.

Derril Peabody

May 1st, 1941 - December 3rd, 2018

Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Peabody family.

Reverend Derril E. Peabody of Lodi passed away late Monday night, December 3, 2018 surrounded by his family. Derril was born on May 1st, 1941 to Frank E. and Margaret Higley Peabody in Horton Kansas. Derril's formative years were spent in Muscotah, Kansas where at seven years old he met his future wife of fifty-seven years, Linda Lou Christ. Derril and Linda married in 1962 and started a family in Topeka, KS as Derril pursued his career in radio broadcasting. They moved to Kansas City, KS in 1971 where Derril continued to work in radio. In 1981, Derril heard God's call to commit his life to the ministry. Derril served at Stanley Community Church in Stanley, KS from 1980 to 1985 while working on his undergraduate and post-graduate degrees. Derril graduated from Mid-America Nazarene College in Olathe, Kansas with a double Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Communications and shortly after received his Masters of Divinity degree in 1984 from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas, affiliated with the American Baptist Church. Derril was ordained into the ministry at Colonial Church in Prairie Village, KS. In 1985, Derril and his family relocated to Lodi, CA so that he could serve the First Congregational Church (now known as United Congregational Christian Church). Derril served UCCC for 11 years while he and his family made their home in Lodi. From 1996 to 2014, Derril served many United Church of Christ (UCC) churches including; First Congregational UCC in Eau Claire, WI, First Congregational Church of Salida, CA, St. John's UCC in Woodland, CA, First Congregational United Church of Christ in Reno, NV, First Congregational Church in Oroville, CA, United Church of Christ in San Luis Obispo, CA, First Congregational UCC located in Escondido, CA, and Parkside Community Church, in Sacramento, CA. After Parkside, Derril was called back to serve UCCC of Lodi, where he initially served in 1985. Derril enjoyed returning to this wonderful church and was planning to retire officially at the end of this year. Most recently, the congregation of UCCC of Lodi recognized Derril for his pastoral leadership by bestowing upon him the honor of Pastor Emeritus.


Derril leaves behind his wife Linda Christ Peabody and children Paige Nicole Peabody Blevins (Dewey) and Joshua Todd Peabody (Nancy). His grandchildren that he adored beyond measure Maximilian Joshua Blevins, Gwendolyn Nicole Peabody, Harrison Derril Blevins, and Andrew Porter Peabody. His sister, Margaret Jane Rippe (Don) and many more loved family members.


All family and friends are invited to celebrate Derril's life at the United Congregational Christian Church, 701 S. Hutchins St., Lodi, CA 95240 on January 12, 2019 at 10 am with a luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made on behalf of Derril to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (https://www.cff.org/) or the American Cancer Society (https://www.cancer.org/ ).

Susan Acosta

March 21, 1947 - December 2, 2018


Susan passed away at the age of 71, on Sunday December 2, 2018. She was born on March 21, 1947 in Stockton, CA to Alice and Ciriaco Ame. She is the first of five siblings. On January 29, 1977 she married the love of her life Richard Acosta, who she leaves behind, along with her daughter Elizabeth and husband Jermaine: adopted daughter, Kasondra; two grandchildren, Janaya and Yazmeen; and three siblings, Philip, Sandra (Fernie), and Shirley.

Susan worked at Sharp Army and Tracy Defense Depots where she gained may friends. Susan was a very creative and loving person that touched many lives but she especially loved her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ciriaco and Alice, brother Jimmy; and niece Kaamilya.

Services for Susan will be held at Cherokee Memorial Park, on Saturday, December 15th, 2018 at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Flowers located at 14165 N. Beckman Road, Lodi, CA  95240.

Martha Martin

March 26, 1932 - November 30, 2018

Martha Lee Lois Martin, age 86, passed away on November 30, 2018 at 2:30 PM at Lodi Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family. Martha was born March 26, 1932 and is preceded in death by her parents Fayette Rice and Rosella Whiteman, Cleveland Byrd (son), Merl Byrd (husband), Albert Strawther (husband), Alice Porter (sister), and Stella Mae DeLacy (sister). She is survived by her husband of 21 years David Champion, sister Ethel Hooker, brother Frank Rice, children Robert Byrd, Charles Byrd, Joyce Johnson, Jeanette Hayes, Albert Strawther Jr., Donald Strawther, and Frank Strawther, 28 grand-kids, numerous great-grand-kids and great-great-grandkids.

Mom was a score keeper for baseball and an avid sports follower when her kids were playing. She worked for fifteen years for San Joaquin County before retiring. She would talk of Gila, New Mexico, her birth home and the desire to be there again. Thanksgiving, Easter, camping, family get-togethers were some of her most cherished times, when the family would come together.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 1:00 PM at 1905 S. Olive Avenue in Stockton.

Jennings III, Eli Jennings, Aubri Jennings,  Charlotte Jennings, Atalie Jennings, Seraphia Jennings, Gavin Luke, McKenna Wait, Kyle Drayer and Calvin Jones, great-great grandchildren; Harlie Rizzo, Bryan Rizzo, Dylan Memory, Aurora Barnhart.
He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Joanne Jennings, parents Charlie Jennings, Gladys Robinson, son Michael R. Jennings, siblings Earl Jennings and Wanda VanZandt, and great grandchild Christian Barnhart.
Harold moved from Oklahoma to Stockton, Ca. He was employed as a baker for Sunbeam Bakery, a fireman for Western Pacific Railroad, worked in construction for EF Mitchler Company and Arnaiz Construction, owned several car lots and became a real estate investor.

Martha Reichert

April 17, 1924 - November 29, 2018

Martha Reichert was born in 1924, Hague, North Dakota. She passed away November 29, 2018 in Lodi, at the age of 94 following a long illness. Martha is survived by her husband of 73 years, Emil Reichert; her two children Jim Reichert (Linda) and Janice Hausmann (Donald). She has five grandchildren, Donald Hausmann, Jon Hausmann, Sarah Reichert, Allison Reichert, and Cynthia Reichert; five great grandchildren; Cassandra, Tasha, Kaitlyn, Robert, and Madison She is also survived by four sisters, Etta Baykara, Hildegard Holy, Ella Wall, and Betty Guthrie. Proceeding Martha in death were her mother and father Ann Marie and August Hieb, brothers Ted, Leonard, Art, Clifford and two sisters Ester Knopp and Dorothea Fetzer.

Martha is a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Lodi which was a very important part of her life. Martha was born and raised on her family’s farm. Her favorite memory was the morning of her wedding, she had to milk the cows one last time. Martha loved playing the accordion, and piano, especially when she could get together with her sisters to perform at community events. Martha was a homemaker and did her job very well.
