Shirley was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on November 7, 1938 to Lillian Eaton and raised by her loving grandmother, Myrtle Eaton. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1957. In 1959, she married David Lynch, also from Ottumwa. In 1964, they settled in Lodi, California, where she lived the rest of her life.
During the 70’s, Shirley completed her BA in Anthropology and English from Sacramento State University. She worked in the early 70’s as an 8th grade teacher at St. Anne’s School in Lodi where she was loved for helping students write and costume their own plays. During the early 80’s she worked for Lodi Memorial Hospital in the Admissions Department. It was during this time that she attended University of San Francisco where she earned a Master’s Degree in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling. In the late 80’s she was hired as an Elementary School Counselor for Lodi Unified School District where she served for over 20 years. She loved helping others and put her heart and soul into everything she did.
Shirley is preceded in death by her mother, Lillian and her two brothers, Eddie and Randy. Shirley is survived by her husband, David, and her two daughters, Jennifer Lynch (husband, Frank Callanan) of St. Louis, MO and Andrea Ryan (husband, Tim Ryan) of Modesto, CA. She was a loving grandmother to Gabrielle and Mac Callanan as well as Kellan and Gavin Ryan. Shirley and David celebrated 61 years of marriage a week before her passing on June 21, 2020.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She had many friends in her lifetime whom she truly treasured. She had a kind heart and was a selfless person. She was always thinking of others before herself. Over the years, she adopted and cared for many stray cats that arrived on her doorstep. She had a heart of gold, and will be missed by the many lives she touched.
VISITATION
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 6th from 1:00pm – 4:00pm at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home located at 831 Industrial Way, Lodi, CA 95240
A private family service will be held on Tuesday July 7th with burial immediately following at Cherokee Cemetery.

Ben Motoyama of Lodi, California passed away peacefully on June 27, 2020 at the age of 92. He was born in Mills, California, to Tokuichi and Hiroko Motoyama on February 17, 1928. Ben graduated from Tri-State high school, in Newell, California, and earned an Associate degree in Engineering from Humphreys College in Stockton.
Ben lived in Lodi, CA for over 70 years and was an active member of the Lodi Buddhist Church. He was also a member of the Japanese American Citizens League. Ben worked for Segarini’s Market and Morada Market. Ben was an avid traveler, and enjoyed visiting domestic and international destinations each year. Ben also spent free time with a group of good friends playing golf.
Ben is survived by his son, Todd, his wife Mary, of San Ramon; grandchildren, Bradley, Jason, Benjamin, Kristi, Emma, great grandchildren and sisters, Mary Itaya and Judy Motoyama. Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Tokuichi and Hiroko Motoyama, wife, Joyce Midori Motoyama, son, Kevin Motoyama and brothers, Masaru Motoyama, Shizuo Motoyama and Hayao "Al" Motoyama.
The family thanks Brookdale Lodi and Vitas Hospice Care for their compassion and professionalism. Due to the pandemic, services will take place at a later date.

Kuldip Kaur, 75, passed away June 24, 2020 in Stockton, California. She was born July 1, 1944 in Jande Sarai, District Jalandhar in Punjab. She was the youngest daughter of six siblings. She is preceded in death by her son Surinder Sahota, and her husband, Jagir Singh. She is survived by her sons Bhupinder Sahota [Narinder Sahota] and Inderjit Sahota [Gurwinder Sahota], and her grandchildren Joti, Taran, Kuljit, Preet, Jaskaran, and Ishan. She is remembered fondly by her family and friends as a loving friend, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Her sense of humor, warm company, and empathetic demeanor was felt by family and friends around the world. She always taught those around her the power of unconditional love, the wisdom that comes with challenging our own beliefs, and the beauty in cultivating strong bonds and sisterhood. For those fortunate enough to have known Kuldip Kaur, she will be forever celebrated as a spirited, selfless, and affectionate woman.
