Linda Davis

December 11, 1947 - September 17, 2020

Linda Davis died peacefully at home on September 17, 2020 from pancreatic cancer. Born Linda Lee Yamada in the Florin area of Sacramento, to Ted and Connie Yamada on December 11, 1947, she was the third of four children. The family moved to Lodi when she was young when Ted became a partner with Sell Rite Market. Linda attended Lodi schools and graduated from Lodi High in 1966. She attended Sacramento State for a year before moving on to the University of California at Berkeley. While at Cal, she was a cheerleader and a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She graduated from Cal in 1970, and in 1971 received her teaching credential from San Jose State. She came home to Lodi that same year and began her teaching career with Lodi Unified. It was in Mr. Wakefield's U.S. History class in 1964 where she met Scott Davis. They were married in 1973, and were blessed with their daughter, Lindsay, in 1977. She took some time off when Lindsay was born, then resumed her thirty-three year teaching career, retiring in 2010. In retirement, she became a familiar face at Vinewood Elementary by volunteering in the classrooms of each of her three grandchildren. She was also a dedicated volunteer at First United Methodist Church where she served on many committees and was a tireless Sunday school teacher and organizer. Linda and Scott loved Carmel and Monterey and were there nearly every year of their forty-seven year marriage. Linda was crazy about her three grandchildren. Gianna, Gavin, and Gilia had her firmly wrapped around each of their little fingers. There was nothing she would not do for those three kids.

Denise Costigliolo June 4, 1954 - September 17, 2020 Denise Costigliolo passed away with loving family by her side September 17, 2020 following a battle with early onset of Alzheimer’s disease. Denise was born June 4, 1954 in Oakland, CA. to her loving parents Tommy and Bette. Denise was a beautiful loving kind person, always putting others needs above her own. Many, many people describe Denise like this: "To know her was to truly love her." Denise was a loyal, loving wife to her first love, Danny for 46 years. She was a loving mom to her three children and blessed with three grand-daughters and a grandson on the way. Denise retired from General Mills after 32 years of hard work. Denise enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sharing in large gatherings, laughing, cooking and dancing. But the thing that she loved most were her precious grand-daughters Isabella, Francesca and Giuliana Denise. She was a bragging, doting, picture carrying Noni! Nothing made her more happy than these girls. She left an indelible mark on all who knew her and there are no words to express the emptiness she leaves behind. She really was a very special lady.

Denise is survived by her true love Daniel (Danny) Costigliolo, her children Jason and wife Jessica, Casey and Carlie. Her granddaughters, her step-father James (JT) Thomas. Her sisters Dianne Guadagnolo (Monte), MariJo Kolze (Brian), Kelli Heiser (Patrick) and her brother Dylan Thomas (Gina).

The family would like to give a special thank you to Denise's loving care takers, Thelma Saunders and Linda Letulle. These ladies went above and beyond in caring for Denise. Also, thank you to the many special friends and family who prayed continually for Denise during this time.

Betty Martin

November 3, 1931 - September 15, 2020

Betty L. Martin November 13, 1931 - September 15, 2020 Betty L. Martin passed away on September 15, 2020 at the Vienna Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Lodi, California while under Hospice care. During these times of the Covid-19 virus, we would like to take the opportunity to thank St. Joseph's Hospital and Vienna Nursing Home for allowing her husband and daughter to be with her several times, both in person and facetime, before her passing. Betty was born in Cushing, Oklahoma and came to Stockton, California with her family at a young age. She attended Edison High School and graduated from Stockton High School. While at Edison, she met her husband, Tony J. Martin. They were married in June of 1949 and enjoyed 71 years together - although they would both tell you they had 73 years together total, including dating! After Tony and Betty's retirement, they traveled the United States in their fifth wheel trailer, then their motor home. Whether traveling with friends, or by themselves, they enjoyed every trip because every trip was an adventure. Although we have to say, just going the distance of 73 years together is a whole adventure all by itself! Betty is survived by her husband, Tony; daughter and son-in-law Toni Renee and Robert Langsfeld, daughter-in-law LaRae Martin, grandchildren Jodi Langsfeld, Cara and her husband Jim Heath, Stacey and her husband Kirk Klafter, Garrett Silva and his wife Erin; great grandchildren Kira and Brandon Klafter, Nathan and Isaac Silva. Martin, passed in January 2018 and was waiting for her with open arms.

As requested by the family, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of San Joaquin. From all of us, family and friends alike, who love you and Joe so much, have fun on your next adventure!

Dorothy Mulvihill photo 1.jpg

Dottie was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stockton, to Raymond and Elma Blais. She grew up I their Lodi home with her sister Martha and brother Jim. As a girl, she was active in Campfire, Rainbow Girls, and Job’s Daughters Bethal no. 159, who elected her Honored Queen in 1953. In 1952, she was a member of the Grape Festival Queen’s Court. From a very young age, she was active in theatre and dance, including teaching dance in her early teens.

A member of Lodi High Class of 1951, Dottie was always busy in school performing, chairing committees, and as an award-winning member of the Speech team. While attending Stockton College, she was offered a scholarship from the Speech and Radio Department at College of the Pacific (UOP). She was honored to be a student of renowned theatre professor DeMarcus Brown and appeared in many productions.

Upon her graduation from COP in 1954, Dottie accepted a teaching position at El Segundo High in Los Angeles. Although she enjoyed the job and made many friends, she returned north for graduate studies at UC Berkley. While there, she became involved with the London Circle Players, a theatre company in Jack London Square established by several friends from COP. It was at an audition there that she met fellow actor Edward Mulvihill, who went on to become her husband of over 54 years. They eventually settled in the valley with their children Patrick, Sandy, and Deanna. In the 1960s, the couple were well known for their involvement on-stage and behind the scenes at Stockton Civic Theatre.

After teaching positions at Lodi High, Clayton Valley High, and Stagg High (where she coached a popular modern dance troupe), in 1968 Dottie accepted a teaching position at Manteca High and the family moved to the new community of Raymus Village. In addition to joining the English Department at MHS, Dottie took on her most cherished role as the new Drama teacher. Over the next three decades, she would establish Thespian Troupe 1507, the Manteca Young Actors Children’s Theatre, and the Manteca Community Theatre. She was always especially grateful for the support she received from her new hometown and its business owners, many of whom became dear friends.

Dottie was active with many theatre companies throughout Northern CA as an actress, director, and costumer. She was well known for her one-women performance, including “The Belle of Amherst” and her series of Women of the West presentations, which she created. She received many awards and honors throughout her teaching and theatre careers, including the Golden Apple Award and induction into the Manteca Hall of Fame. After retirement, MUSD renamed the MHS auditorium the Dorothy Blais Mulvihill Theatre in acknowledgement of her commitment to bringing live theatre to Manteca. Never wishing t slow down, after retirement, Dottie returned to SCT to work, perform, and teach adult and children’s acting classes. It was only the onset of Alzheimer’s Disease which finally brought an end to her seven decades in the theatre.

Dottie is preceded in death by her husband Ed, her siblings Martha and Jim, her brothers-in-law Milton, Richard, and Tom, and sisters-in-law Gertrude and Madeline. She is survived by her children Patrick (Sharron), Sandy (William Badgett), and Deanna, granddaughters Caitlin and Megan, sister-in-law Carol Blais, and her nieces and nephew and their families. She also leaves behind many cherished friends and former students.

Dottie will be interred at Cherokee Memorial Park. Due to current circumstance, a celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
