Richard Ian Penrose

February 26, 1957 September 19, 2022

Richard Ian Penrose passed away on September 19 in Stockton. He was 65 years of age.

Rick, as he was known by his family and friends, was a long time resident of Lodi, having settled there with his family when he was 10 years old. He graduated from Lodi High School in 1975 where he was an active participant in the school’s music program.

Rick is survived by his older brothers, Bruce M. Penrose and Brian J. Penrose, and his nephew, John P. Penrose. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph I. Penrose and Elaine G. Penrose. Another brother, Ralph W. Penrose, passed away in 2001.

One of Rick’s sincere interests was music. He both sang and played the guitar with a high degree of skill. An avid reader, books consumed much of his leisure time. Perhaps no personal trait of Rick’s was stronger than his generosity (of spirit). He would go out of his way for others, be they close personal friends or strangers. He was particularly supportive of his family. This was clearly evident during his mother’s closing years. She was dealing with Alzheimer’s disease, and Rick served as her caregiver and companion.
