Paul Guerrero

December 12, 1928 - January 22, 2024

Paul Johnson Guerrero, 95, passed away January 22, 2022, in Stockton, CA.

Paul was proceeded in death, by his loving wife, of 71 years, June Guerrero. He is survived by his four children and their spouses; Paul Guerrero, John Guerrero and his wife Lyn, Nancy Fuller and her husband Tim, Mike Guerrero; his four grandchildren, Nicole Sellers and her husband Greg, Scott Guerrero, Shawn Guerrero, Marcus Guerrero; and his five great-grandchildren; Mariana Lopez, Kristian Sellers, Nathan Sellers, Richard Lopez, and Devan Sellers.

Paul was a caring and devoted Father to his children and Grandfather to his Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.

Paul was an entrepreneur, as a founding owner of Andero Construction. He also received his Juris Doctorate and practiced Construction law at the Law Office of Paul Guerrero. Paul was also an Advocate for Small and Minority businesses in Northern California. He served on the Caltrans SBC and the CA Department of General Services SBC. He was a member of La Raza Roundtable, Several Hispanic Chambers, including the San Joaquin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and was the founding member of The United Minority Business Entrepreneurs.

Paul has touched so many throughout his years and will truly be missed.

Sharleen Riggs

SHARLEEN JUNE RIGGS (nee MORGAN)
September 26, 1937 – January 20, 2024

Sharleen June Riggs was born on September 26, 1937 in Deepwater, Missouri, and was called home to be with our Lord on January 20, 2024 in Sacramento, California, age 86, in the loving care of her two sons, Jerry Riggs II and Gary Riggs. As a young girl, the family moved to Stockton, California. She attended Franklin High School, Stockton College and Schneider Vocational School. On March 26, 1955, she married the love of her life and childhood neighbor, Jerry Riggs (deceased). They had four children, Sherrie (deceased), Jerry, Gary and Mary (deceased); five grandchildren, Bruce, Tiffany, Leena, DeAna and Tyler; six great-grandchildren, Jordan, Amy, Alex, Evelyn, Jeremiah and Daniel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ann Morgan; sisters Joyce Kreis and Donna Rios; brothers John Morgan and Frank Morgan.

Sharleen began her career as a beautician, then worked for Bank of America, then as a hostess/cashier for Santiago’s Mexican restaurant in Lincoln Center. In 1977 she obtained her Realtor license and worked for Riggs & Associates (no relationship) in Stockton. Then she worked for Allstate Insurance on Pacific Avenue in public relations. She was heavily involved with the Stockton Board of Realtors and served and chaired on many committees. She was honored with the Realtor of the Year Award in 1987, and she served as President in 1990 on the Stockton Board of Realtors. She also served for two years as a Director for the California Association of Realtors. Sharleen’s volunteer activities included helping at the Blind Center, being a member of the Delta Lions Club, Toastmasters, Coast Guard Auxiliary and served for over 25 years with the Stockton Salvation Army, including serving on their Advisory Board.

Sharleen enjoyed spending time with her family the most. She also enjoyed golfing, traveling and fishing trips with her husband, family and friends. She also enjoyed hosting large family gatherings. Everett Boscacci

Everett Merrill Boscacci
May 18, 1936 - January 19, 2024

Everett Merrill Boscacci, 87, unexpectantly but peacefully left this earth on January 19th. He is now reunited with a myriad of Italian relatives and many close friends. And he is once again of sharp mind and able to sing like Frank Sinatra.

Everett was born and raised in Stockton, California. He attended the University of Santa Clara and finished with a degree in Political Science. He returned to Stockton to be employed in several jobs including a title company, Stockton Savings Bank, a landscape maintenance company, and Beck Construction. In 1992 he and his wife, Peggy, ventured to Seldovia, Alaska to open a laundromat/ice cream parlor/real estate company, only to return to Stockton 14 years later after many medical problems arose.

 Everett is survived by his wife of 39 plus years, Peggy, and his 3 children, Tristan (Kimberly), Peter, and Doug (Jeanna), along with his stepchildren, Samantha (Tony), Lyle, and Carolyn (Paul). He is also survived by his grandchildren and step-grandchildren Peter, Alyssa, William, Joseph, Harrison, Leighanna, and Alexander.

A special thank you to CarePlus Hospice for their kind, gentle, and loving care of Everett for the last several months. And to Annette and Arlene, you are truly God’s earth angels! You are special people!

At Everett’s request there will be no formal funeral service, however an informal memorial celebration of his life will be held at Tristan Boscacci’s residence at 1040 Sheridan Way, Stockton, CA 95207 on February 17th, 2024, from 2:00pm – 4:00pm. All are welcome to come by and share your memories of Everett.

Final arrangements were made by Cherokee Memorial of Lodi.

Lillian Oka

August 28, 1933 - December 6, 2023

We sadly announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ba-chan, auntie & friend, Lillian Kinuyo Oka, on December 6, 2023 at the age of 90 years old.

Lillian was born in Sacramento, California on August 28, 1933 where her family eventually settled in Stockton, California. During World War II, Lillian’s family was gathered & relocated to the Stockton Assembly Center in 1942 along with many other Americans of Japanese descent. Her family was then transported to a Relocation/Internment Camp in Rohwer, Arkansas where they were contained until the war ended in 1945. After the war, Lillian’s family returned to California where they eventually resettled in Stockton, California, where she met the love of her life, Kiyoshi Oka. Lillian & Kiyoshi were married on November 7, 1954. They were co-owners of a local grocery store, City Market on Weber Street in downtown Stockton. They had a daughter & son who they raised & were very involved in their many activities. When her children were old enough, Lillian returned to school, entering the full-time work force where she finally settled working as an executive administrative secretary for the Superintendent of Stockton Unified School District for over 25 years. She enjoyed bowling in the Nisei League at Pacific Avenue Bowling Alley, playing mahjong & hanafuda Japanese card games with her family & closest friends. She then spent her retirement in the company of her family & friends, traveling the world & enjoying trips to local casinos & bingo halls. She was an adventurous, kind, generous & very loving person who was extremely proud of her family, especially her 3 grandchildren. She will be truly missed for all the days of our lives.

She is survived by her son, Stephen Kiyoshi Oka, daughter, Stephanie Kimiko Yamamoto & husband Leonard, grandchildren, Megan Kiyomi Yamamoto, Kyle Takeshi Yamamoto & Ian Nobu Yamamoto, niece, Sheryl Yamashita & husband Gil, nephew, Craig Matsumoto & wife Barbara plus many extended relatives & friends near & globally.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenichi Iwamoto & Hinayo Tanaka Iwamoto, husband, Kiyoshi Oka on 3/24/2002 at 80 years old, brothers George Okura, Tom Okura, Frank Okura, Jimmy Okura, Hank Okura, Harry Okura along with the unfortunate passing of her sister, Sachi Wakabayashi on 12/10/2023.

Lillian’s immediate family would like to give special thanks to the entire staff of Mainline Homecare for the many years of compassionate care & to the nursing staff of Suncrest Hospice for their devotion in Lillian’s final days. We would also like to thank Sheryl & Gil Yamashita for all their sacrifice & dedicated effort they put forth in assisting their aunt, our mother & Ba-chan. We also appreciate the generous assistance of her loyal friends at our time of need.

At Lillian’s request, an intimate internment service will be held in Lodi, California at the Cherokee Memorial Cemetery in the Chapel of Flowers on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 1:00 pm where Lillian will also be interned with her sister.

Darlene Oma Reynolds-Keys
February 6, 1937 - January 19, 2024

Darlene’s siblings are Nathelda Reynolds-Latimer, Birdie Jean Reynolds, Lawrence Neal Reynolds, Robert Ray Reynolds, and Michael Francis Medina.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Lonnie Royal Keys.

Sons: Perry Edward (Judy), Lonnie Vaughn (Julie), Royal R. (Sheril) and Ross Montgomery (Tia) Keys.

15 grandchildren: Amber Thiebold, Perry Daniel Keys, Justin James Keys, Helene Desire’e Keys, Autumn Suzzanne Laforce, Jeremy Ka’ano’i Keys, Judiette AlohiAkala Ormond, Brent, Jacob Keys, Aleeda Amber Keys, Royal Arthur Keys, Nicole Kristian Keys, Roshell A. Keys, Branden Michael Keys, Maylene Legaspi, and Alec Tith.

Darlene Oma Reynolds was born on a balmy California winter day, the 6th of February 1937, in Santa Ana, California. She is the daughter of Lawrence Edward Reynolds of Springville, Utah and Helen Almeda Packard of Boise, Idaho. The fourth of six children, the third daughter, she grew up spending her time between Springville, Utah and Brentwood, California. Darlene loved to fish and swim in the river. She worked in her family’s Chinese restaurant and later Burger Hut, during high school. Darlene was quite active in sports, baseball and served on the Girls Athletic Association Board of Directors. She belonged to the FFA and Choir. She graduated in June 1956 with honors. She began working in San Francisco, California, where she lived with her aunt Vera and Uncle Ted Whitke, as a telephone operator. She married her high school sweetheart, Lonnie Royal Keys on December 29, 1956, in Brentwood, California. Upon Lonnie’s graduation in June of 1957, the newlyweds embarked on a three-year adventure in Europe while Lonnie served in the USAF stationed at Augsburg, Germany. In 1958, they welcomed their first of four sons, Perry Edward. Shortly after returning to Brentwood in 1960, they were blessed with their second son, Lonnie Vaughn. By 1962, they lived in Tracy, California where their third son, Royal R. was born. Soon after, business brought them to a little blue house on South Adrienne Street in Stockton, California where in 1964, their fourth son, Ross Montgomery, made his debut. They lived, laughed, and loved as a family in this place, trying their hand in at chicken ranching, running carwashes and laundromats along with managing rentals and remodels and her boys growing up. In the early 80’s the opportunity to adventure arrived once again as the plane landed in Anchorage, Alaska. Here Darlene thrived. She loved her ward and spending time with her grandchildren. Six years later, she and Lonnie had the opportunity to move to Eureka, California. There she enjoyed several years reconnecting with her sister Jean, the best catfish cook ever! Darlene became an incredible family historian! Her contributions are many and amazing. She loved her family deeply. She was a great mom and looked forward to every opportunity she got to have her four boys together at once. She is no doubt, thrilled to see them here today. If one could use only a single word to describe Darlene it would have to be “Love”.

Michael Crabtree

February 12, 1970 - January 19, 2024

Tony "The Banjo Man" Crabtree, aged 53, strummed his final note on January 19, 2024, in Sacramento, California. Born on February 12, 1970, in Walnut Creek, California, Tony lived a life as vibrant and animated as his banjo melodies.

Known for his fiery spirit—and not just because he spun fire in his leisure—Tony was a master of the art of joy. He sketched out a life filled with laughter, doodling his way into the hearts of his family and friends with a quick wit that was as sharp as his pencil.

Tony leaves behind a legacy of love and a band of relatives: his brother James who shared many a riff with him; daughters Kathryn and Amanda, who were his greatest fans; and his ensemble of step-daughters Kayla, Brianna, Vanessa, and Tonya, who added harmony to his life. As well as brother and father, he was “Papa Mike” to his 7 grandchildren Khaleo, Tiana, Kia, Dejon, Ny’ommi, Za’Niyla and Za’liyah.  “Preceding him in the great gig in the sky were his father Irvin Crabtree, mother Constance Crabtree, and daughter Jessica Crabtree, who undoubtedly are saving him a seat on the heavenly stage.

A life so well-played deserves an encore, and Tony's will be at Cherokee Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Lodi, CA. The curtain call will be at 1pm on February 20th, where friends and family can gather to applaud a life lived to the fullest.

So, let's not say goodbye, but rather, 'until the next set,' to a man whose life was a symphony of love, laughter, and a touch of mischief. Curtain up, Tony, for your final bow.

Romeo Paiste

In Loving Memory of Romeo Rabara Paiste
April 13, 1951 - January 17, 2024

Romeo Rabara Paiste, 72, passed away on January 17th, 2024, surrounded by his family at his bedside in Lodi, California. Born on April 13th, 1951, in Bantay, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was the third eldest among 10 siblings to Pedro Pigao Paiste and Francisca Rabara Paiste. In the mid-1970s, Romeo immigrated to the United States, seeking new opportunities to build a better life for his family. Over time, he settled down in Lodi, California and started a family of his own.

In 1978, Romeo married his beloved wife, Jesusa Cardenas Balanza. Throughout their marriage, Romeo and Jesusa lovingly raised their three children and warmly welcomed their respective companions into the family: Leilani Balanza Paiste Abellera and her husband, Dexter Abellera; Jane Balanza Paiste, accompanied by her husband, Cristian Poblete Gonzalez, and their adored canine companion, Delilah; and Jamie Ryan Paiste, who is engaged to Jazmin Lomeli Ramirez. Romeo also treasured his role as a grandfather to five grandchildren: Jordan Mark Abellera, Jacob Dylan Abellera, Kayla Jayne Abellera, Romeo Alexander Paiste, and Dominic Joseph Paiste.

Romeo was a man of humble beginnings and was known as an exceptionally hard worker. He worked long hours in various labor-intensive jobs across different industries throughout his years in the United States. These industries included agriculture, where he picked and pruned fruits and vegetables in California and Arizona. He also worked in the canning industry, processing salmon in Alaska and peaches in California. Additionally, he worked in the manufacturing industry, processing a variety of products such as car seats, Duraflame products, and paper-based packaging products throughout California as well. Romeo's strong work ethic and dedication were all driven by the noble purpose of providing for his family.

Romeo was not only a diligent provider for his family, but also a culinary maestro in the kitchen. Selflessly, he would create a plethora of dishes upon request, delighting both his immediate and extended family. The consistent and delectable quality of his culinary creations became a testament to his skill and the love he poured into every meal. Furthermore, his freezer was always stocked with a variety of carefully chosen meats and fresh vegetables, reflecting his dedication to providing wholesome and flavorful meals. This practice left a lasting legacy that extended beyond his role as a dedicated worker and family man.

In his spare time, one of Romeo’s notable hobbies was maintaining his garden, lawn, and plants around his home. Drawing upon the knowledge acquired through years of experience in his agricultural roles, his gardens flourished with an abundance of fruits and vegetables. His lawn was meticulously cared for and the plants, under his watchful eye, thrived with vitality. Additional activities Romeo participated in included spending time with his siblings laughing about the good times in life, discussing sports updates with his brothers, engaging in casino escapades with loved ones, and playing Mahjong with friends and family throughout the evening.

Beyond his talents and hobbies, Romeo's life was a testament to the values of hard work, perseverance, modesty, and the importance of family. Genuinely proud of his family members’ accomplishments, he supported his family whenever anyone was in need. His heart was rich with kindness, generosity, and love, touching the lives of those around him with his kind spirit and gentle nature. A simple man, he possessed a quiet strength that spoke volumes through his actions, signifying quality, integrity, honor, and respect.

In paying tribute to his legacy, let us continue to embrace the valuable lessons he shared, aspiring to lead lives infused with the timeless virtues of love, dedication, and humility that defined the extraordinary journey of Romeo Rabara Paiste. May he find eternal peace.
