Vickie Fowler

July 25, 1957 - May 18, 2025

Vickie Lela Nell Fowler of Stockton, California passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025. She was born and raised in Stockton. Vickie was the youngest of four children, and was often getting in trouble for something her older siblings had done. She grew up running around the house her dad built near St. Joseph’s Hospital. The family eventually moved to a two acre farm and orchard on the east side of Stockton, where her dad lived until 2021.

Vickie is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mary Wells, Sr.; two siblings, sister Tierena Johnson of Stockton and brother Timothy Wells of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Vickie is survived by her husband Harold Bruce Fowler and daughter Michelle Fowler-Flores of Stockton; brother Howard Wells, Jr. of Idaho; nephews Kristopher Johnson of Stockton and Morgan Johnson of Missouri; nephews Britt, Jason and Daniel Wells of Idaho; granddaughter Gwenivere Flores and soon-to-be born Gadihel B. Flores III.

After moving to the country, Vickie attended Linden High School becoming valedictorian of her class and graduating a year early. She was accepted to Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her second oldest brother Tim. After graduating, she returned to Stockton and began working at Montgomery Wards as a manager; this is where she met Bruce. Vickie and Bruce were married on June 12, 1982 in Stockton.

In 1983, Vickie started working for Pacific Bell Telephone Company as a directory assistance operator and later transferred to San Francisco as a secretary. After receiving her Masters degree from National University, Vickie transferred to the San Ramon location working as a computer operator. She became the lead architect for Pacific Bell Payroll. After almost 23 years, Vickie’s job was downsized in 2008. She was later hired as a project manager contractor at Kaiser Permanente and Blue Shield of California. Due to chronic pain, she later went on permanent disability.

In 2019, Vickie and Bruce bought their forever home in a quiet and secluded neighborhood in Stockton. She loved the location to be near their daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter, until her passing. Vickie’s family will continue her love of Christmas and Disney, including trips to Disneyland during the holiday season.

Vickie will be forever missed by her close family and friends, but they know she’ll be alongside them in spirit during all the major milestones that are to come in the future.
