Weldon D. Schumacher, M.D.

January 4th, 1936 - December 13th, 2018

Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Schumacher family.

Weldon D. Schumacher, M.D. was born in Tacoma, Washington on January 4, 1936 and passed away in Lodi on December 13, 2018. Weldon was a prominent physician, cherry grower and member of the Lodi community for many years.

Weldon graduated from Loma Linda University and Loma Linda University School of Medicine. After doing graduate work he practiced in Glendale, California until 1966 at which time he was drafted into the United States army. The army deployed him to Vietnam where, as a Captain, he was responsible for the immediate acute care of casualties off of the battle fields for which he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and Bronze Star. Honorably discharged in 1968, he and his wife, Joanne, moved to Lodi where he established his practice of family medicine.

While in private practice, Dr. Schumacher was active in the local medical organizations including memberships in San Joaquin Medical Society, California Medical Society, the American Medical Association and the American Association of Family Practice. He served as a member and Chairman of the board of directors and Chief of Staff of Lodi Community Hospital; he was an active leader in the expansion and modernization of the hospital.

Weldon and his wife were active members of the Seventh-day Adventist church where he served in a variety of capacities including the church board and chairman of the fundraising committee. Weldon was a founder and supporter of the Lodi Education Endowment Foundation.

Over the years Weldon was an active member of the Lodi community including memberships and services to the Community Concert Association, Lodi Executive Club and the Chamber of Commerce. He was a founding director and served as Vice­ Chairman for Bank of Lodi and First Financial Bancorp.

Weldon was preceded in death by his loving wife Joanne and is survived by his daughter Cindy Lou Laughlin, granddaughter Kelsi Ward and grandson Brian Laughlin.

In remembrance of Dr. Schumacher donations to the Lodi Education Endowment Foundation, Post Office Box 272 Lodi, California 95241-0272 are requested.

There will be a visitation on Saturday, December 22nd, 2018, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm in the Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, 14165 N. Beckman Road, Lodi CA, 95240.

Services:
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 5th, 2019, at 2:00pm, and will be located at the English Oaks Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1260 W Century Blvd, Lodi, CA 95240.

Joseph Reed

November 2, 1943 - December 12, 2018

Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Reed family.

Joseph Reed was born November 2, 1943 to Richard Peter and Delores Elizabeth Reed in Stockton, CA. He was the youngest of eight siblings, who lovingly called him "Joey" or "Joe".

Joseph attended schools in Stockton CA and was in the first high school class to move from Stockton High to Edison High School where he graduated. Joe went on to obtain his Certification as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor. Joseph was employed by Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) for over 39 years as a Meter Reader in Stockton, CA and a Customer Service Representative in Oakland, CA. until his retirement.

Joseph departed this life surrounded by his wife, daughters and cousin; but remains in the hearts of those he loved.

Joseph leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife of 28 years, Antoinette, daughters Donielle Bolden,

Maxine, Marina, and Carmen Reed, Brothers Russell, Gerald, Albert, and Walter Reed, Sisters Betty Ozan, Delores Creer, and Florence Moton, Seven Grandchildren and one Great Grandson.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 4-7pm at DeYoung Memorial Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 10am at Progressive Community Church with interment at Cherokee Memorial.

SERVICE

A committal service will be held on Thursday, December 20, following a church service, in the Garden of Freedom at Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park located at 14165 N. Beckman Road, Lodi, CA  95240.

Richard Hinojos

February 7th, 1933 - December 10th, 2018

Richard Santana Hinojos, 85, of Stockton, California, passed away Monday, December 10, 2018.

 Richard was born to Frank and Genevieve Hinojos, February 7th, 1933, in Fresno, California.  He graduated from Stockton High School and received an AA Degree from the Delta College. He married Rosa Maria Perez on November 7, 1964, and they lived together in Stockton, California.  Together they raised 3 children.

He leaves as his legacy 3 children: Donna Hinojos-Chavez, Richard Hinojos, and David Hinojos.  He was a Grandfather to 11 grandchildren and Great Grandfather to 9 great grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish his memory 5 siblings, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Genevieve Hinojos, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.  His children remember him as a hard working family man with a sense of humor.

Richard was a welder and forklift driver until he retired in 1995 when he began building his home on East Cherokee Road in Stockton CA.  He served his Country in the Air Force as a Jet Mechanic in the Korean War.

A Memorial Service (Mass) is scheduled for, Friday, December 28, 2018 at 10am at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church at 5882 North Ashley Lane, Stockton, CA 95215.  A reception will follow at the Rose-Liel Hall. A private burial service will take place at a later date. The family requests that donations be made to Saint Michael’s Catholic Church. 

The family would also like to thank friends and family for their support during this difficult time.

Cary Parafin

July 25, 1963 - December 6, 2018

Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Parafin family.

Cary Francis Parafin was born July 25, 1963 to Chet and Maria Parafin in Detroit, Michigan later settling down in Lodi, California. Together Cary and Lynnette started Sunridge Electric in the early 90s and purchased Fluid Manufacturing in 2002. Sunridge served Northern California for more than 25 years and Fluid still caters to companies all over the world. While Cary’s exterior mimicked a hardcore Harley riding electrician, his professionalism and sense of humor made everyone that got to know him, love him. Cary took his last ride on December 6 th , 2018 losing his five- year battle of a rare type of cancer. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lynnette, and two daughters Montana and Sierra and son-in-law, Kyle. His siblings are Peter Parafin, wife Sandy, Karen Barth, Kris Schultz, husband Mike, and Janie Gertsch. Nieces and nephews include Stephen Parafin, Terry White, Dawn Barth, Michelle Goodreau, Natalie Ulrick, Nick Schulz, and Melissa Gertsch. Cary touched so many lives in his short 55 years.

His family will be celebrating his life at the Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, 14165 N. Beckman Rd, Lodi, CA 95240. at 10:00am on Monday, December 17, 2018
