Kenneth Dunham Sr.

March 28, 1934 - May 21, 2025

Kenneth Lee Dunham Sr. lived a wonderful life. He was born on March 28, 1934 to mother Ada Jones and father J.T. Dunham in Shamrock, Texas. Ken was the youngest of six siblings. He came from humble beginnings and spent much of his childhood traveling to California. In 1951, he enlisted in the Unites States Navy and served as a radarman in the Korean War for 4 years. Ken was a dedicated and loving husband to wife Lillian Dunham for 64 years. He supported his family as a telecommunications expert for Western Electric. Together, they raised 3 beautiful children and shared 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Ken was a man of God and the Lord led him to be a pastor and evangelist for most of his adult life. His prayers and guidance were a special blessing. In his free time Ken was a sports enthusiast and athlete. He enjoyed playing softball, golf, and bowling.  One of his favorite pastimes was rooting for the San Francisco Giants with his family and watching classic western movies. Most days Ken could be found tending to his vegetable garden. He loved his tomato plants, often growing them from seeds. Every year he would share his harvest with friends and family. Ken had a kind soul and a sharp wit. He was always happy to share a funny story or quote his favorite scripture. A shining light in this world, Ken will be dearly missed and live in our hearts forever.

Kenneth is survived by his 3 children Dawana Dozier, Kenneth Dunham Jr.(Patty), and Chris Dunham(Lisa). Grandchildren Matthew and Katie Dozier, Stephen Dunham(Angelica), and Kenny Dunham III(Mary), Andrew, Alex, and Josh Dunham. Great grandchildren Layla, Daniel, Rylee, Lily, and Waylon. Lindsey “John” Hawes

Lindsey “John” Hawes
February 11, 1936 – May 21, 2025

Lindsey “John” Hawes, age 89, of Kirkland, Washington, passed away peacefully of natural causes on May 21, 2025, at Stockton Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on February 11, 1936, in Tucson, Arizona, to John Samuel Lindsey Hawes and Ruth Taylor, John’s life was rich in service, adventure, and unwavering devotion to family. He was raised alongside his sister Beryl and half-sisters Linda and Diana. From his early days helping in his father's wartime garage to visiting his grandfather in Mexico, John was always in motion, building a foundation of resilience and curiosity that would define his life.

In 1955, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving with distinction as a Master Sergeant during deployments in Japan and Korea. While stationed abroad, he met and married Yoshiko Kumazawa in 1957. Together, they welcomed three children—Taylor, Grant, and Marguerite—and created a life that spanned two continents and countless cherished memories.

After 14 years of military service, John retired honorably and transitioned to civilian life in Las Vegas, working as a casino dealer. Though his first marriage eventually ended, John remained devoted to his children and later found lasting love again with Janet Gail Askin. They married in 1987 and spent 25 joyful years together raising Jaci and Darian and making a home in the Ozarks of Arkansas. There, John found spiritual peace at Osage Baptist Church, where he accepted Christ as his Savior.

Professionally, John thrived in a second career in sales, joining his son Grant at EZ-1 and traveling the country as a representative—a role he often called his favorite. Life on the Arkansas farm, shared with Janet and his mother Ruth, brought years of peace and fulfillment.

John faced heartbreak with courage, including the loss of Janet in 2012. He later moved to the Seattle area, living on Ames Lake and continuing his travels—visiting Israel, Ireland, Italy, and France to celebrate life milestones with his children and grandchildren. In a crowning achievement of perseverance and pride, he graduated in 2024 from Regent University at the age of 88 with a bachelor’s degree in history—becoming the oldest graduate in the university’s history.

His life was a tapestry woven with faith, hard work, love, and an unshakable belief in family. John’s legacy includes five children, fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and countless memories of laughter, generosity, and purpose.

He is preceded in death by his wife Janet, daughter Jaci, sister Beryl Adams, brother-in-law Hugh Adams, his mother Ruth Lykins, former wife Yoshiko Kumazawa, and Father John Sam Lindsey Hawes.

Abel Miraflor

April 6, 1956 - May 19, 2025

Abel Ben Miraflor, of Stockton, California, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025, at the age of 69. He was born on April 6, 1956, in Merced, California, to Job Bing Sr. and Lydia Edith Miraflor.

Abel leaves behind his beloved bride of forty-eight years, Judy Ann; two daughters, Brandy (John) Larson and Brooke (Jon) Freeman; and five grandchildren: Katelynn, Maddie, Jaxson, Kaden, and Mia.

He is survived by five siblings: David (Ella) Miraflor, Job (Susana) Miraflor, Arthur (Diana) Miraflor, Karen (Marvin) Schooler, and Rachel (Tom) Armstrong; his brother-in-law, Jody Robertson; and stepsister, Rachel (Brent) Regnart. He was preceded in death by his parents, Job Bing Miraflor Sr. and Lydia Thompson, and his sisters, Evalani Gordon and Arlene Joy Robertson. In addition, Abel leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members whom he loved dearly.

Abel lived in Southern California until the age of twelve, when his family settled in Stockton. He met his future bride at Christian Life Center during the Landmark Convention in January 1975, and they were married on June 4, 1977. Together, they attended Christian Life Center and served under Pastors Kenneth Haney and Nathaniel Haney. In November 2011, Abel and Judy purchased a house in Cottleville, Missouri, to be close to their children and grandchildren, and they continued to split their time between California and Missouri.

Abel loved to work. He began his career in landscaping, then transitioned to cement masonry. In 1981, he shifted paths and pursued a career in Fire Protection. He founded his own business, ABE Builders/Fire Protection, in Stockton in 2005. Abel also had a passion for inspiring others to work, mentoring and developing young men and women, often helping them discover their own career paths.

Abel had a servant’s heart. He volunteered countless hours of his time and expertise working at churches and orphanages around the world. He often attributed his many blessings to this labor of love. For nearly twenty years, Abel donated his vacation time to serve as camp director for the Christian Life Center Youth Camp.

His greatest treasures were his family and friends. He loved to spoil and spend time with Judy, and together they traveled the world. Every summer, Abel took his family on a vacation and treated his grandchildren to special camping trips. He never met a stranger—everyone who met him couldn’t help but love him. To Abel, everyone was his “best friend.”

Above all, Abel was a devoted Christian. He was often found in early morning prayer at church and joyfully shared the goodness of God with everyone he met. To his family, friends, and employees, he was a living example of steadfast faith. He loved the Lord with all his heart.

For the last two years, Abel bravely fought pancreatic cancer with the same unwavering faith that defined his life. His courage and positivity inspired everyone who spoke with him. No matter how he was feeling, he would greet others with a big smile and say, “God is good… ALL the time.”

Abel will be missed beyond measure—but we find comfort in knowing we will see him again soon.

Dorothy “Dotye” Markham

Dorothy “Dotye” Marian Markham
August 2, 1940 – May 18, 2025

Dorothy “Dotye” Marian Markham, age 84, of Stockton, CA, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Sunday evening, May 18th, 2025. She was born on August 2nd, 1940, the daughter of the late Fred and Marian Lewis, and beloved sister to her late brother, Robert “Bob” (Ely) Lewis.

Dotye is cherished and deeply missed by her loving husband of 60 years, Ronald “Ron” Markham, and her daughters, Laura Markham and Cynthia “Cindi” Stoub. She was deeply loved by her six grandchildren — Claire, Caleb, Allie, Juju, Camron, and Annasophia — who all held a special place in her heart. She is also lovingly remembered by her son-in-law, Don, and four great-grandchildren — Jerome III, Jermaine, Zayden, and Amaya — along with their father, Jerome Jr. Dotye’s presence was a constant source of love, warmth, and joy to every member of her family, all of whom miss her dearly.

Born in Twin Falls, Idaho, and raised in Klamath Falls, Oregon, Dotye pursued her education at Multnomah College, Southern Oregon University, and later Chico State, where she obtained a degree in social work. Social work took her to Stockton, where she met Ron and started her family. As her girls got older, she obtained her teaching certificate and became a beloved elementary school teacher and school librarian. During her more than 20 years of service in education, she touched the hearts of countless students with her warmth, creativity, and unwavering belief in the power of learning. She held a lifelong passion for educational access and equity. The friends she made at Kennedy Elementary were very important to her.

While raising her children, Dotye formed deep, enduring friendships with other young mothers in her community. Two of these women she came to consider as sisters, Barbara Head and Linda Hauger. She often cared for their children alongside her own, blending families into one extended, loving community — a bond that continues to this day and grieves her loss together.

Dotye reached out in every area of her life. She was an active and generous member of her community, volunteering with the PTA, leading her daughters’ Girl Scout troops, teaching english to adult learners, and organizing Sunday School classes.

In retirement, Dotye found joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether baking cookies, scrapbooking, making jewelry, throwing tea parties, playing cards, reading bedtime stories, swimming, or enthusiastically supporting their theatrical performances, she embraced every moment with love, laughter, and boundless patience. Her family knew, without question, how deeply and unconditionally she loved each of them.

Dotye had a lifelong love of plants and animals. Over the years, she lovingly cared for many cats and one lucky dog — all but the most recent now surely reunited with her in heaven. She nurtured a flower garden for as long as her health allowed, tending it with the same care she gave to everyone in her life.

She was a woman of deep and abiding faith, and a member of several church communities over the years — most recently, Lincoln Presbyterian Church.

In her final years, Dotye was the primary caregiver for Ron during his health struggles, even as her own health began to decline. Her quiet strength and selfless love never wavered.

Above all, Dotye will be remembered as a woman full of kindness, love, and laughter — sassy, smart, and endlessly cherished by all who knew her. Her heart was vast, always putting the needs of family and friends before her own, a quiet strength woven through every act of care. She lives on within each of us — in the kindness we share, the strength we carry, and the love that binds us together.

Although there is a huge hole in our lives, we know Dotye is made whole in Heaven reunited with her Savior, family, and friends. We rejoice with her as she is enjoying what she so desired, to be freed of the limitations of her body here on earth.

A celebration of Dotye’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 4th, at 4:00 p.m. at Lincoln Presbyterian Church, 900 Douglas Rd, Stockton, CA 95207.

Arnold Knoll

November 20, 1931 - May 15, 2025

Arnold R. Knoll passed peacefully on May 15, 2025 at the age of 93, during cherry season. He fought complications from diabetes and pneumonia.

Arnold was born on November 20, 1931 at home in Lodi, California to Albert and Lydia(Hinsz) Knoll. After he graduated from Lodi High School, he took a few agriculture courses at UC Davis before enlisting in the Airforce at McClellan Air Force Base in Feb 1951. Arnold was a veteran of the Korean War where he served for 2 years. After returning home to Lodi, he married Violet Strobel, they were married for over 72 years. They raised three children, Rollo, Marlow, and Vicki. They built their home from 1966 to 1968 and meticulously grew 35 acres of cherries for 45 years. Arnold and his family worked tirelessly providing TLC to their cherry crop which was sold to customers in the United States and Asia.

Arnold enjoyed sharing the bounties of the family orchard and large garden with everyone. In the 1970’s he got his private pilots license and flew for over 20 years throughout Northern California.

Yearly traveling with his family to British Columbia, Oregon, Washington, the Dakotas, Minnesota, and one of his favorite places Yosemite was always meaningful to Arnold. In later years he and Violet took many cruises and tours to Europe, Australia and New Zealand, as well as traveling to 49 of the 50 states. Fishing, was one of his greatest joys. His favorite places to fish were Fort Bragg for salmon, deep sea fishing in Santa Cruz, and salmon, trout or halibut fishing in Northern California’s many rivers and lakes, Alaska(Gustavus) and British Columbia. He always had a grand time and was in his happy place!

Arnold was a very wise man, always telling his children to follow their dreams, they didn’t need to be farmers, do what you enjoy, “life’s too short.”

After retiring, woodworking became an avid hobby. He lovingly built models of military airplanes, jets, civilian airplanes, bird houses, train cars, toys and wine cork trivets. Along with his initials he embedded a penny into each of his creations with the year of fabrication which he shared with family and friends.

A long time member of Bethel Open Bible Church(Discover), he spent many years as the Sunday school treasurer and attended regularly with his family.

Arnold is survived by his wife Violet, Rollo and his wife Fran, their daughters Brianna and Jenna, Marlow, Vicki O’Connor and her husband Chris, and their sons Riley and Tyler, along with his sister Dolores, brother Harlin(Joann) and many nieces and nephews.
