Irma Jean Dorice Thompson Batté
May 6, 1935 - November 22, 2024

Irma Jean Dorice Thompson Batté was born on May 6, 1935, to the union of Fado and Alberta Thompson, in North Little Rock Arkansas. She was the youngest in her family. She entered eternal rest at 5:03pm, on November 22, 2024, at Lodi Memorial Hospital, in Lodi California. Jean accepted Christ at an early age.

Jean attended public schools and graduated high school in North Little Rock, Arkansas before moving to Long Beach, California in 1954, with her young daughter. In 1960, she moved to Oakland, California, where she met, Theodore J. Batté fell in love, and married him. To this union, three children were born.

Jean was a member of Palma Ceia Baptist Church, under the leadership of, Pastor Charels F. Bennett, in Hayward, California until she moved to Galt, California, where she attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Manteca, California, under the leadership of, Reverend Dr. Keith C. Morgan. She was a mother of the church, director of The Rainbow Tea, she baked cakes for all the church’s programs and made sure the church was supplied with Poinsettias during the Christmas season.

Jean worked in the medical field as a Ward Clerk. She worked for Merritt Hospital in Oakland California, Washington Hospital in Fremont California, and at the end of her career, Kaiser Hospital in South Sacramento California.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Clemmie Ready, Cleo Livingston, Howard Ready, Haywood Ready, Joe Ready, Alvin Ready, and Willie Mae Hicks.

Jean leaves to cherish her precious and loving memories, her devoted husband

of 64 years, Theodore J. Batté, daughters Jacqueline Y. Proctor (Carl Proctor), Antoinette Batté, her sons Theodore J. Batté II (Jody Batté), Howard R. Batté (Shelley Batté), her grandchildren, Shamataye D. Leak, Shar-Ron M. Hardy (Maurice Hardy), Theodore R. Thompson (Little Teddy) [Jessika Thompson], Ashley N. Batté (Moira Kinney), Malcom N. Batté, Jacob W. Williams, Theodore J. Batté III (TJ), her great grandchildren, Airyanna Hardy, Aniyah Hardy, Aleiya Hardy, Zechariah Hardy, Aytumn Leak, and Cairo Thompson.

Jean’s warmth and kindness will forever remain in our hearts. She was a loving, generous, beautiful soul, who loved her family, friends, baking cakes, making jelly, cooking amazing meals, dressing stylishly, and wearing stunning hats.

Though she has left this world, the joy she brought to our lives and the beautiful legacy she created will always stay with us. We will carry her memory forward, celebrating the remarkable woman she was and the love she shared so generously.

VISITATION
A visitation will be held from 5:00pm - 7:00pm on Friday, December 13th 2024 at the Fellowship Baptist Church, located at 1130 Pine Street, Manteca, CA 95336.

SERVICE
A service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at the Fellowship Baptist Church, located at 1130 Pine Street, Manteca, CA 95336.
