Grace “Maureen” Sweat
January 6, 1931 – December 13, 2024
Grace “Maureen” Sweat, 93, of Lodi, California, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024. Born on January 6, 1931, in Modesto, California, to Floyd and Alice Beam, Maureen was raised in Manteca, California.
In 1949, she married the love of her life, Denzil “Denny” Sweat, and together they built a loving family. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her daughter Cheryl Kort in 1993, and her husband Denny Sweat in 2005. She is survived by her children, Valerie Stump, and Eric Sweat of Lodi; her grandchildren, Jason and Jeffrey Kort (Hilary) of Lodi, Sara Uhls (Steve) of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Guy Stump (Chelsea) of Loma Linda; and her great-grandchildren, Hannah Kort, Tristan Kort, and Cheryl Kort of Lodi, as well as Ashton and Levi Stump of Loma Linda. Maureen is also survived by her siblings, Merwin Beam of John Day, Oregon; Alice Graves of Lodi, California; and Alvin Beam of John Day, Oregon.
A devoted mother and homemaker, Maureen pursued her dream of becoming a registered nurse once her children were in school full-time. She graduated from San Joaquin Delta College in 1969 and dedicated herself to helping others through her work.
Maureen was a long-time member of the Galt Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she often shared her musical talents by singing for church services and programs. She had a deep love for music, the piano, and the beauty of the beach. Her warmth, talent, and devotion to her family and faith left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
SERVICE
Services will be held on Thursday, January 2nd, at 11:00 a.m. in the Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park. The family invites friends and loved ones to attend.
Remembrances can be made to Hospice of San Joaquin or the Galt Seventh-day Adventist Church in her honor.
